Oxbow Eco-Center Enjoy live music, a silent auction and eco-art made from repurposing materials that otherwise would be thrown out during the St. Lucie Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oxbow Eco-Center on St. James Drive. The Festival highlights unique eco-art, sustainable living ideas and community resources. More than 70 local organizations and businesses will be showcased and share hands-on activities throughout the gardens and trails of the preserve. Kids can have an adventure in the nature playscape and musical forest, experience live animal encounters, and stop by the Eco-Challenge tent for the chance to win great festival prizes. Avast ye! Shiploads of seafood and pirate activities can be found at the Fort Pierce Seafood and Pirate Fest on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and Riverwalk Center. Local boat parades light up the waters for the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 9, about 6 p.m. in St. Lucie County along the Fort Pierce Inlet. View the parade from the Veterans Memorial Park, South Bridge, Causeway Park, or anywhere along the north side of South Hutchinson Island. Boats turn at the Square Grouper and go back. In Indian River and Martin counties the parades are on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Indian River County parade starts at 6 p.m. just north of the Merrill Barber bridge and follows the same route south on the Indian River as it did in previous years. The Martin County boat parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at the downtown Stuart public docks and proceeds down the St. Lucie River to Manatee Pocket. The judging takes place at Sandsprit Park.
