Wintley Phipps in Concert
Sunday, Jan. 9, 3 p.m.
Many consider Wintley Phipps to be both an artist and an
inspiration. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, the two-time Grammy Award
nominee is an ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister, worldrenowned
vocal artist, and innovative creator of special projects such
as the U.S. Dream Academy. Phipps will lend his booming baritone
for a powerful program with Aaron and your Space Coast Symphony,
featuring, “It Is Well with My Soul,” “To God Be the Glory,” “Amazing
Grace,” and many other well-loved spirituals and hymns. Highly
acclaimed for his spectacular performances, Phipps has performed
for six American Presidents including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan,
George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama as
well as performances for Mother Teresa and South African president,
Nelson Mandela. Mr. Phipps’ work has been featured numerous times
on television, including appearances on the Dr. Martin Luther King,

E-Series: Whose Vote Counts
Tuesday, Jan. 11, 7 p.m.
Join us for our not to be missed E- Series at
the Emerson! Energize Yourself! Excite Your Soul!
Exercise Your Mind! Escape the Mundane! Explode
Misconceptions! Expand Your Mind at the Emerson
Center this year! The Emerson Center in collaboration with the Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach Social Justice Committee presents
the E-Series at the Emerson: Speakers, Films and Forums.
Appearing on October 20, 2020, just a few weeks before the national
election in November, this PBS documentary focuses on the primary
election in Wisconsin just six months earlier at the beginning of the
Covid lockdowns gripping the country. Interviews with local Wisconsin
officials and residents as well as national spokespersons discuss the
problems which were experienced in Wisconsin and were expected to
occur again in the national election. The twin issues of mail ballot fraud
and voter suppression are discussed and debated, a debate which
led to violence in January following the election and remains fiercely
divisive today. Many fear we will face the same issues this coming
November (2022). Our panelists will discuss the film and take your
questions on how this debate might impact the voting in our county
and across Florida. All E-Series programs are open to all and free of
charge as part of the Emerson Center’s mission to provide quality
educational and thought-provoking events for our community.
