This year marks Bed Bath
Kitchen’s thirty-sixth year.
Beginning as a small linen shop
for bed and bath, the business has
grown to 3000 square feet and
added Karen Kane Interiors.
The store, in the historic Fee
Hardware building on the corner of
2nd Street and Avenue A is packed
with accessories, including lamps,
furniture accent pieces, artwork,
plants, mirrors and much more.
“We’ve come a long way,” Kane
laughs. Over the course of 36 years of
offering decorating advice with new
clients coming in via word of mouth,
Kane is still surprised at the success.
“Most people see the shop, walk in
and are surprised because they’re not
expecting to find it as full as it is. The
store is my passion. I enjoy going to
the shows to find new and interesting
accessories to keep it changing.”
Kane, a licensed designer, has used
her skills to decorate many homes,
offices and even condo buildings in
our area. She is assisted by Bobbie
Hopkins (35 years) Gisele Flowers (27
years) and Tracy Williams (10 years).
Kane says putting the client first is
the key to her success.
“It’s really about the client. I decorate
for them and strive for 100%
