Great Blue Heron
RUSTY DURHAM

A Great Blue Heron stands silently in a thicket near the North Fork of the St. Lucie River waiting for a lizard or small rodent to come within range of its long neck and dagger-like beak. The largest heron in North America, these birds eat mostly fish and are often seen around inland waterways throughout the state of Florida.
