Historical Society of Martin County
The Historical Society of Martin County (HSMC) collects, preserves and interprets for the public the history of Martin County and American life in the context of the St. Lucie River region and Florida in relation to the larger currents of world culture and history.
The HSMC is the parent organization of the Elliott Museum and House of Refuge Museum. The Elliott Museum wows guests with its renowned car and baseball collections, changing exhibits, and galleries featuring local history and the works of local artisans; the House of Refuge transports visitors back in time, depicting what life was like for the keeper and his family in turn-of-the-century Florida. Both museums showcase a wide variety of events, exhibits, collections, and lectures, all designed to engage the interests of people who live in and visit Florida’s Treasure Coast.
