Lots of comings and goings
happening around the city
For some, autumn may reflect the ebb and flow of daily life in St. Lucie County.
Daylight saving time is going away, snowbirds are coming down from the North and
students are going back to school. In this edition of Port St. Lucie Magazine, we take a
look at the many comings and goings in and around the city this season.
The big coming attraction news is that former University of Florida and NFL quarterback
Tim Tebow is participating in an instructional league, which runs through early October
at Tradition Field. On Pages 8-10, Greg Gardner takes a look at the fan and media frenzy
surrounding one of baseball’s most celebrated rookies who recently signed a minor league
contract to play with the New York Mets.
Sunday is a day for going to church. In “Spreading the Love” on Pages 12-15, Debra Magrann
introduces us to the megachurch, Christ Fellowship, which has given new life to the
former Digital Domain building on SW Village Parkway.
Going to the emergency room is never a pleasant experience, especially when someone
is older than 65. “ Extra dose of TLC,” starting on Page 16, tours six specially designated
rooms for older patients at St. Lucie Medical Center’s emergency room, where the staff
goes out of its way to make sure it gives special attention and tender loving care for these
patients and their families.
Going from a larger home to a smaller home is old hat for a couple living in PGA Village.
“The upside of downsizing” Page 20 examines how the pair has made the transition from
an 8,000-square-foot-home to one that is just 3,500 square feet.
Lots is going on at city hall and the civic center with new hires taking over duties in the
legal, communications and community services departments Page 40.
Things are always coming and going for a shopkeeper, a jazz musician and a metal artist
who are profiled in our People of Port St. Lucie feature beginning on Page 46. And of
course, the Datebook, which starts on Page 54, has the latest goings on with art and community
events.
So, take a minute from your own comings and goings, brew yourself a cup of coffee or
tea, pull up your favorite chair and read about what’s going on in your city with the fall
issue of Port Lucie Magazine.

Young members of Christ Fellowship spread the love as they greet worshipers coming to the church’s new satellite
campus at the former Digital Domain building on SW Village Parkway. The conversion of the building into a
church is one of the many changes happening in the city.
