HOME & DESIGN After the back-to-back hurricanes in 2004 completely
demolished the northeast portion of the house, the
De Schouwers chose to open the space by raising
the 7-foot ceiling to 20 feet and adding french doors
in the family room. The more eclectic furnishings
and minimalistic style in this space suits the family’s
aesthetics, says Fried De Schouwer.
