Miranda. Ralph Sexton remembers that before the restaurant
had a license to serve liquor the waitresses would take
orders, then walk across the street to a bar to get drinks for
their customers.
“I am honored and truly privileged to be associated with
this iconic establishment and the family of Waldo Sexton and
am committed and excited to try to bridge the gap between
past and present,’’ Kelleher says. “That’s why we have chosen
certain items from the Patio menus of old to try to reconnect
to that history. Menu items such as the Patio florentine,
the duck, the prime rib, the beer battered mushrooms and
the swiss cheese dressing are what the restaurant has always
been known for. We just reinterpret them from a different
culinary background and put a new twist on them.”
The restaurant’s name came from the patio between the
main building and the free-standing kitchen, which was built
when the decision was made to expand the business. Waldo
