Indian River State College Career and
Transfer Services has launched a new opportunity
for area employers to connect
with IRSC students.
The IRSC Employer Residency Program
provides a professional development
platform where students gain real-time
feedback from business and community
leaders as they build interviewing,
networking and job search skills. At the
same time, the program connects local
employers with some of the most qualified
and promising employees in the region —
soon-to-be IRSC graduates.
“The Employer Residency Program connects
employers and students in an experience
that readies our students to walk into
a job interview with a sharp resume and a
clear understanding of the company and
the industry,” says Calvin Williams, IRSC
director for Career and Transfer Services.
Employers involved with the program
participate in informational meetings
where students can ask questions about
the company and specific jobs within the
organization and its industry. Students
gain valuable insight from employers,
including ways to improve their employment
prospects and strategies to achieve
long-term career goals. The regularly
scheduled sessions are actively promoted
to IRSC students and take place in-person
or through virtual platforms such as Zoom
and Microsoft Teams.
The program offers additional opportunities
for area businesses. Among them are increased
visibility with IRSC students, faculty
and staff; maintaining an on-campus presence;
career and professional development;
