Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie has been a vibrant part of the Port
St. Lucie community for more than 18 years. It has been home to
many wonderful residents over the years and given many seniors
a beautiful place full of activities and friends, without the burdens
of home ownership.
Over the years, the tradition of excellence in independent living
and assisted living has remained constant.
The community offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom
apartments, as well as studios. Residents benefit from
housekeeping and maintenance services, in addition to an
emergency response system monitored by on-site staff. They also
enjoy fine dining and a heated pool.
Some things have changed, though.
Harbor Place at Port St. Lucie has been updating its look
recently, both on the independent living and the assisted
living side, as well as in common areas and landscaping. Newly
renovated apartments include granite countertops, fresh paint,
new tile flooring and carpet.
The community also has a new leader at the helm. Jack
Waldroup was recently named executive director.
Waldroup first got into senior care when he was working in a
hospital; a friend suggested he transition over into long-term care
due to his passion for helping the elderly. He has worked in senior
care for 10 years now, including in Alabama and Texas.
“I get to have a community of grandparents, since I lost mine
at 17,” Waldroup shared. “Working with
seniors gives me the ability to make up
for times lost with them.”
Originally from Pace, Florida,
Waldroup earned a bachelor’s degree
in psychology. This fall, he plans to
complete a master’s degree in health
care management. He currently lives
in Port St. Lucie and has served as a
chairman for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s
in the Mobile Bay Area, as well as other
committee member positions. He is also
active in breast cancer walks due to his
mother’s battles with the disease.
