AMAZON OPENING THIRD FACILITY
Amazon has planned a third facility in St. Lucie County, a
200,000-square foot delivery station in Legacy Park in Tradition.
The station, expected to be completed in September, will employ
200 workers with wages starting at $15 per hour. Employees will deliver
goods within 45 miles of the center.
The company also has a delivery station at Kings Highway Industrial
Park, which opened in 2019, and a fulfillment center under construction
at Midway Business Park.
FRENCH COMPANY MOVING TO STUART
French aerospace manufacturer Daher is buying Triumph Group’s
aerostructure production facility in Stuart.
The companies recently announced the deal that will transfer Triumph’s
400 employees and its location at Witham Field in Stuart to Daher.
“We are excited to partner with Daher, who will benefit from the
Stuart site’s experienced workforce, significant capabilities, and strong
customer relationships,” said Daniel Crowley, Triumph’s chairman,
president and CEO.
The Stuart site specializes in assembling complex structures such as
wing and fuselage assemblies.
PSL OKS CHENEY BROTHERS EXPANSION
Cheney Brothers Inc. has received site plan approval from the Port
St. Lucie City Council for the first phase of what is ultimately planned to
be a 522,527-square-foot distribution center and food service warehouse
in Legacy Park at Tradition.
The first phase of the family-owned Florida broadline food distributor’s
facility will be a 327,427-square-foot warehouse with refrigeration
and freezer space, test kitchen, ancillary offices, loading docks and a
fueling station. At completion, this phase of the $65 million project will
bring at least 275 jobs to the city with wages that are 150% of the average
earnings per worker in St. Lucie County.
The new distribution center will be constructed on 53 acres fronting
Interstate 95, north of the FedEx Ground sortation center. When completed,
it will service the restaurants, clubs and hotels in the region and
provide a safety net for supplies, if needed, when hurricanes strike, said
Warren Newell, Cheney Brothers director of development.
Newell said he expects the company to break ground on the project
during the first quarter with completion anticipated in 14 months.
WATTERS LEADS NEW BANK IN REGION
First Southern Bank, a full-service community bank
serving Florida and Georgia, recently announced that
it is expanding to the Treasure Coast and has named
longtime Treasure Coast banker Steve Watters as a
senior vice president.
Watters has joined First Southern Bank with more

than 30 years of banking experience. He has been a
regional bank executive leading teams in the Treasure Coast for the past
20 years. He has previously been with SunTrust, Harbor Community Bank
and most recently with SouthState, where he served as Treasure Coast
regional retail executive.
He began his banking career with a small community bank in North
Carolina and is returning to his community banking roots with First
Southern Bank.
Watters has served on numerous nonprofit boards on the Treasure
Coast as well as developing mentorship programs. Watters is a graduate
of University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he majored in
business administration.
