Calvert named Realtor of the Year for SLC

The Realtors Association of St. Lucie County in January
named Joyce L. Calvert, broker/owner of Joyce L.
Calvert, Realtor, the 2007 Realtor of the Year.
Dedicated to her clients with a genuine commitment to
providing exceptional real estate service, Calvert has
earned an arsenal of credits in her 34 years in the real
estate profession.
She is a graduate of the Realtor Institute, Council of
Residential Specialists, Leadership Training, International
Property Specialists, Accredited Buyer’s Representative and
Property Management Network. She has served as secretary,
treasurer, director
and vice president of
membership for the
Realtors Association of
St. Lucie and the
Women’s Council of
Realtors. She serves on
the grievance, communications,
professional
development, government
affairs and brokers’
committees for the
Realtors Association of
St. Lucie. As a director
of the Board of
Realtors, she became a member of the 1 Percent Club, contributing
$1,500 toward a new building.
Calvert, an AA-degree graduate of Indian River Community
College, was also instrumental in obtaining data for the association's
MLS book by traveling to Minnesota for research.
The book contained a map Calvert helped design.
Calvert is also active in community and philanthropic affairs.
Known for her passion for preservation and property improvement,
Calvert regularly attends Fort Pierce City Commission
meetings and serves on the Fort Pierce Board of Adjustment,
having served as past chairman.
She is a member of the Westside Baptist Church, honorary
member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Fort Pierce and is a
member of the Florida Alumni Association/Treasure Coast
Gator Club, Florida Association of Realtors Honor Society and
Capitol Club member of the Realtors Political Action
Committee. She is a sponsor of the annual Farm City Week
and is a participant in 5K Walks/Runs for Kiwanis, Sunrise
Theatre, American Heart Association, American Cancer
Society and others. In 2002, the Realtors Association presented
her with the Humanitarian Award.
Natives of Kentucky, Calvert and her husband, Dr. David V.
Calvert, professor emeritus of the University of Florida, have
two children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, she creates
crossword puzzles on various topics and attends Gator
sports events. Along with her husband, she enjoys driving their
farm tractor and maintaining their 40-acre citrus grove.
