Sam Crutchfield has
always lived for fishing
and the outdoors, but
his second career has
made him the Jimmy
Buffet of the fishing community.
“I tried to get him to do it
(songs about fishing), but I had
to do it myself,” said the Florida
native who ran a Fort Pierce
charter business for 30 years before
retiring to launch his music
career. His 14 CDs have sold
thousands of copies of songs
he wrote and recorded with the
“Hooked On Fishin” band. One
CD is titled “It Ain’t Buffett, but
It Ain’t Bad.”
“Sam is a master of many
things,” said Fort Pierce charter
boat captain Glenn Cameron.
“He is a master fresh and saltwater
fisherman. He is a master
with a shotgun and he’s also an
excellent musician. He plays a
lot of different instruments.”
Crutchfield was an outdoors
writer for 10 years on the Treasure
Coast, produced a fishing
show for five years on television
