PUBLISHERS’ NOTE
2
Happy New Year and welcome to a new year
of Treasure Coast Business, the publication dedicated
to all things business across the Treasure
Coast. As the Florida Small Business Development
Center at Indian River State College begins
a new year of operations and Treasure Coast
Business prints its January 2020 issue, it is time
to reflect on and review 2019 performance.
For its part, the Florida SBDC at IRSC provided
more than 4,000 hours of credentialed consulting
to the regional business community and assisted
clients in accessing more than $60 million
in additional capital through revenue growth,
government contracting and access to bank
financing. In 2019, the center partnered with
Bank of America, the St. Lucie County Economic
Development Council and the law firm of Dean,
Mead to conduct the 7th annual Small Biz and
Entrepreneurship Conference. The Florida SBDC
at IRSC continued its partnerships with Treasure
Coast SCORE, the BDB of Martin County and
the City of Port St. Lucie to co-host and support
numerous business training workshops
and seminars across the region. The center also collaborated with CenterState Bank to conduct
a series of Profit Mastery workshops, a financial training program that helps business owners
potentially improve and better manage financial performance.
In 2019, Treasure Coast Business began its Pioneer role as the region’s premier business publication.
Business leaders, economic development professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, small
business owners and operators now have a go-to publication dedicated to covering and celebrating
their success and work within the marketplace. More than just a pretty cover, Treasure Coast
Business leveraged the experience of professional business writers to provide in-depth coverage
of the region’s manufacturing, housing, retail, agriculture and research sectors. Regional business
acumen was leveraged to assemble and present best practice articles on topics including business
law, banking, real estate, operations and government contracting.
Because of the innovative thinking, vision and work of regional municipalities, Indian River
State College, the regional EDOs, non-profit business organizations such as Treasure Coast SCORE
and the Florida SBDC Network and our regional legislative delegation, a powerful and valuable
entrepreneurial and small business ecosystem exists along the Treasure Coast. This ecosystem
can help to create unimaginable possibilities for small businesses, yielding economic prosperity
for the entire region.
However, if business owners and operators are unaware of this network of support then all the
resources provide no benefit. Treasure Coast Business Magazine is the single collection point and
suggestion box for all things business along the Treasure Coast. This important publication exists
for you and because of you.
THANK YOU for your past and continued advertising support of this innovative entrepreneurial
publication and remember — The Well-Informed Read Treasure Coast Business.
