Big things are on the way for the Port of Fort Pierce
The City of Port St. Lucie announces “We Love Lucie Concert Series”
Nationally-acclaimed bands to play in Port St. Lucie
The Port St. Lucie Civic Center is launching a new signature
concert series in 2020, bringing nationally renowned musicians
to the venue’s Village Square. Tickets for the 2020 We Love Lucie
Concert Series went on sale in December and will be available at
the Civic Center box office, online at www.etix.com or by phone at
1.800.514.3849. The 2020 concert line-up includes:
Styx: Saturday, Feb.1
The multi-platinum classic rock band will perform songs from
their latest album, “The Mission,” as well as a retrospective of their
Top 10 hits, including Lady, Come Sail Away, Too Much Time on My
Hands, Blue Collar Man (Long Nights), Renegade, Mr. Roboto and
more. Experience the authentic and distinctive Styx sound live on
stage, performed by founding band members Chuck Panozzo and
James “JY” Young and Styx long-timers Tommy Shaw, Todd Sucherman,
Lawrence Gowan and Ricky Phillips.
Little River Band: Saturday, Nov. 14
Eagles founding member, the late Glenn Frey, dubbed Little
River Band “the best singing band in the world.” LRB’s distinctive
harmonies and smooth musical stylings earned them chart-topping
success throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s with hits that live on
today, such as Reminiscing, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night
Owls, Happy Anniversary and more. Inducted into the Australian
Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame, Little River Band
has sold more than 30 million records worldwide. They continue
to sell out shows from coast to coast, bringing vocal and musical
energy to their timeless classic hits.
The City of Port St. Lucie surveyed residents the last two years
and many residents have shown interest in more concerts and
live music. In 2018 and 2019, the Port St. Lucie Civic Center
brought local acts to the community but through follow up
surveys and additional feedback it was clear that the city needed
to bring in some national acts. The We Love Lucie Concert Series
is a response to those requests and be sure to stay tuned for more
acts to be announced.
The 2020 We Love Lucie Concert Series is presented by MIDFLORIDA

Following commencement of yard operations
in November, Derecktor Ft. Pierce
(DFP) has finalized an order with Cimolai
Technology for the world’s largest mobile
boat hoist (MBH). The massive 1,500-ton
mobile boat hoist is expected to arrive
from Italy by fall 2020 and be put into
service shortly afterwards.
Vessel hauling will be accomplished
through the 1,500 MBH and planned dry
docks, giving DFP tremendous flexibility
in the range of yachts it can handle. The
MBH, with its unrivalled capacity, combined
with the physical advantages of the
site, will make DFP the one U.S. shipyard
fully capable of handling the international
mega sail fleet. Dry docks, the first of
which could possibly go into operation
before the MBH, are projected to be able
to accommodate vessels up to 5,000 tons,
meaning all but a handful of the world’s
largest yachts can be serviced.
DFP’s site attributes that the MBH will
allow to be fully utilized include direct
deep-water access from the Atlantic Ocean
through Fort Pierce Inlet, no overhead
obstructions and a maintained depth
of 28 feet (8 meters) through the channel
and turning basin. DFP itself features
a concrete apron of more than 8 acres,
providing ample work and storage area,
as well as more than 1,000 linear feet of
deep-water dockage.
“The 1,500 MBH is an impressive machine
in terms of size and capability. At 85
feet in height, it will be nearly as tall as the
South Causeway and will give us the ability
to haul vessels up to 250 feet in length,
depending on displacement,” Justin Beard,
marketing manager at Derecktor Ft. Pierce,
said. “This is a major step forward for
Derecktor and for the project. Knowing
the MBH will be here gives everyone – employees,
customers and the residents of St.
Lucie County something definite to look
forward to. It’s big news in every sense of
the word.”
