basketball, swimming, weight training and even
trapeze training.
Altitude’s website explains the company’s mission as
changing “the landscape of performance sports training
and educating the next generation of athletes.” The
website talks about the company’s “world-renowned
coaches and our well-established proven training
methodologies, our commitment to high academic standards,
our respect for diversity and our dedication to
creating exceptional opportunities for personal growth
and optimal potential.”
The website also notes that its staff and specialist
coaches have helped develop some of the world’s top
athletes including gold medalists, world champions
and MVPs.

Locally, reaction to the change in ownership has been
largely positive.

After purchasing the complex in 1986, Club Med created an artificial Caribbean-style white sand beach. Ringing the beach area were the hotel and conference
facilities and the main swimming pool, which was constructed in 1970.

The Port St. Lucie Country Club opened in 1961 and quickly became a favorite
venue for golfers using the two links: the Saints and Sinners courses. GDC
built 250 golf villas that sat directly on the courses to form “a hotel of homes.”
