From the Desk of Megan Smith – President Okeechobee County
Economic Development Corporation
It has been a busy couple of months for the Okeechobee
County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC). This group
of committed business and public partners determined the organization’s
top priorities would be to research and identify a site to
develop a 300 – 500 acre industrial site, research and determine
a funding mechanism for the industrial complex, implement a
Business & Retention program, and work with local realtors to
populate the database of county buildings and land for commercial
and industrial use. The final goal is to complete a strategic
plan for the next several years.
OCEDC applied for and was awarded a Rural Economic Development
Grant from Enterprise Florida. The funding will be used
