Everything is flying high at
Martin County’s Witham Field
Earlier this year, U.S. Customs and
Border Protection opened a new
3,200-square-foot facility at Witham Field,
a general aviation airport, to better serve
the boaters, pilots, residents and visitors
of Martin County and the Treasure Coast
region seeking to conveniently clear customs.
From opening day through March,
nearly 250 aircraft and marine vessels
utilized the new facility. With the increase
in airport traffic, customs officers, airport
staff and fixed base operators (FBOs)
have improved both processes and level
of service. In fact, the Stuart Jet Center
was recently ranked among the top FBOs
in the Americas in a survey by Aviation
International News. Scoring an average of
4.65 out of 5 in five survey categories, the
Stuart center secured the:
• No. 1 spot for line service, including care,
fueling and handling services for passenger,
crew and aircraft needs
• No. 3 spot for customer service representatives
• No. 9 spot among the world’s most
improved FBOs.

(Re)Development in Martin County
The Washington Post recently profiled Knight Kiplinger, the journalist and real estate
visionary, for his transformational plans to build a new small town called Pineland
Prairie in Martin County on a 3,400-acre parcel his family has owned for decades.
What makes this long-term development project stand out is the unique promise
to only develop 30 percent of the land. “Seventy percent of this property will be left
open forever,” said Kiplinger in the article. “I am using the other 30 percent, 1,100 acres,
to create a compact, new town by the best practices of modern planning. Compact,
walkable, environmental.” For more information on the emerging mixed-use, village-like
project, visit https://pinelandprairie.com/
