Joan K. Goodrich joined the
Business Development Board
of Martin County as executive
director on June 3. She is
charged with helping to lead the
organization’s core mission, developing
a shared vision for the
future of the organization, and
developing appropriate goals
and strategies to advance Martin
County’s economic development
efforts.
For the past
five years,
Goodrich has
served as the
economic
development
director for the
City of Delray
Beach and the
Delray Beach Community Redevelopment
Agency. She is the
former executive vice president
of the Broward Alliance. She was
also executive director of Enterprise
Coral Springs/Coral Springs
Economic Development Foundation,
executive director of the
Tamarac Chamber of Commerce
and chairwoman of the Florida
Economic Development Council.
Goodrich holds a B.B.A. in
business administration (marketing
management) from Stetson
University in DeLand and is married
with two adult children.
Christopher Soska became
the new chief operating officer
of Cleveland Clinic Martin Health
on May 30.
Soska, who has served as
system executive director for
hospital and ambulatory operations
since August 2018, brings
20 years of Cleveland Clinic
leadership experience to his role
as COO
As COO,
Soska will work
with the Cleveland
Clinic
Martin Health
leadership to
implement
strategic and
operational
goals for the organization. He
will also work with Cleveland
Clinic Florida region leaders to
ensure Martin Health’s effective
integration as part of a regional
health system.
Susan Gromis has been
named executive director of
Main Street Vero Beach. Her
background as
a small business
owner
and experience
in retail
and customer
service fits
Main Street’s
focus on community
building. Originally from
Pennsylvania, she has volunteer
leadership experience in
education-related causes and
Rotary International.
Mark Satterlee has been
named to the board of directors
of the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Satterlee, deputy county administrator
for St. Lucie County, has
been a longtime supporter of
Treasure Coast Food Bank.
Satterlee has worked for St.
Lucie County since 2006 where
he began as the Transportation
Planning Organization director.
Treasure Coast Food Bank is
the only food bank and largest
hunger relief organization on
Florida’s Treasure Coast, providing
the community each year
with millions of meals valued at
more than $50 million through
programs and in partnership
with 400 charitable organizations
in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin
and Okeechobee counties.

Post Insurance in Port St.
Lucie is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
The company was started by
Bob Post in 1979 and today is
run by Kathy Post, owner and
president. Together with sister,
Becky, Kathy manages a team
of 14 with departments for
business, residential and life insurance.
The office occupies the
entire first floor of the company’s
7,000-square-foot office building,
146 N.W. Central Park Plaza
in St. Lucie West.
The company held an appreciation
week April 22-26.

accomplished through the Community
Contribution Tax Credit
Program, a Florida program offering
tax incentives for corporations
seeking to support affordable
housing and home building.
This program has been in effect
since 1980 and is exclusive to the
State of Florida.
Sunshine Laundry Centers
presented United Against Poverty
with a check for $3,466 in
January as part of the family-run
laundry facilities’ Community
Washer and Dryer program.
Families living in poverty are
overwhelmed with food and
housing insecurity, but with
UAP’s help those willing to work
hard can find their way to a better
life. Clients participating in a
six-week job-readiness and skills
training program leave prepared
for job placement.
Besides the company’s contribution
to UAP, Sunshine Laundry
Centers owner Tom Rhodes also
supports program graduates
with a 50-percent discount on
laundry services for one year. “I
understand getting out of poverty
takes a while. We hope this
will help lift people out of that
situation,” he says. v
