Sebastian Inlet State Park has it all
— from treasure to surf contests
to beachcombing to… yes, fish.
Lots and lots of fish. It took the Best
Fishing Spot honors, which is really
saying something because the Treasure Coast
is famous for its fishing and fishing competitions.
The inlet’s North Jetty, which includes a
safety railing, is a hot spot for fishermen and
their families seeking the big flounder, redfish,
pompano and snook. Non-fishermen in the
family can bring the binoculars and camera
and watch for birds and manatees.
WHAT READERS SAY
‘‘ ’’ A great place to catch snook — maybe the best place in Florida.

‘‘From trout to tarpon, the variety is endless. Because of the Sebastian Inlet ,
which allows salt-water species into the lagoon, you can fish for both salt and
fresh-water varieties. And then there are the two great piers to fish from. The
lagoon also is so accessible in Sebastian, by foot or by launch, that you can just
throw a line with a hook in and come out with fresh lunch. People who fish in
Sebastian really catch fish. They don’t just talk about it. It’s a fisherman’s heaven.
‘‘ ’’ The range of fishing areas allow you to go after many different species of fish.
