are too brittle, and if I
pull them off the tree too
soon they will still hold
water and will not hold
the paint... The added
natural materials I find
to create the headdress
can be shell sacks, horns,
pine needles, orchid
pods, pine cones, dried
mushroom, sea fans or
driftwood found all over
the county. I see different
images in each frond.
With the materials that
I have gathered I start
developing the face. It’s
like working on a big
puzzle fitting all the different materials together until they
speak to me.
