PERFORMING ARTS
thrive, thanks to the continued generosity and support of its
patrons, Joan says.
She continues, “VBO is successful because a highly professional
46
group of ‘volunteers’ devote their time and passion
to something they love. Prudent administration, conservative
fiscal policies, operational experience and public support
have enabled Vero Beach Opera Inc. to become a nationally
and internationally recognized opera company which
professionally produces, presents and advances the art of
grand opera in our community.”
Dr. Robert and Marcia Loewinger are VBO directors and
loyal and generous supporters who have given Vero Beach
Opera a home in their Royal Palm Pointe office building,
Joan added. Robert Loewinger was the first chairman of the
opera studies program at Vero Beach Museum of Art, taken
over four years ago by VBO director Wayne Kleinstiver. The
theme of the program this season will be bel canto opera.
Vero Beach Opera has expanded its vocal scholarship
program to include piano scholarships to study with Marcos
Daniel Flores to graduating Indian River County high
school students.
A highlight of the new season will be an afternoon with
Paul Plishka in February. Giordani returns for a full-scale
production of “I Pagliacci” in March.
