“Hello, Dolly!”, the award-winning classic about a New
York matchmaker at the turn of the last century, opens in
March at the Maltz with the well-known songs that still delight
audiences.
The Barn Theatre in Stuart, Martin County’s oldest community
theater, is featuring “Biloxi Blues,” a Neil Simon
comedy-drama about a young Army recruit from Brooklyn in
1943 learning a lot about love and life in boot camp from Jan.
23 - Feb. 5.
“Ballroom,” a warm-hearted musical about a young widow
who finds love again, comes to the Barn Theatre on March 9.
“Catch Me If You Can,” pegged as a “gleeful murder mystery,”
arrives at the Barn on April 20. The whodunit will leave
you laughing and guessing.
The Pineapple Playhouse in south Fort Pierce originated
from the 1949 Dolphin Players, which eventually became
the Fort Pierce Little Theatre. Some years later, it became the
St. Lucie Community Theatre and moved into a permanent
home, The Pineapple Playhouse, on Weatherbee road.
On Jan. 12 the Pineapple Playhouse will treat audiences
to a great farce, “Who’s in Bed with the Butler.” On March
15, the playhouse will present a comedy, “Eat Your Heart
Out,” about the adventures of an out-of-work actor working
as a waiter.
Now in its 54th season, the Vero Beach Theatre Guild
kicked off its season in September with an All-American
theme. The November show is “The 1940s Radio Hour,” a
musical taking place at a radio station in 1942, followed by
“Born Yesterday” in January.
The guild has chosen “Titanic — The Musical” for its
March - April play, ending its run just 15 days before the
VERO BEACH ART CLUB
Under the Oaks drew 90,000 people over a three-day period last year. The

100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic on its maiden
voyage, April 14, 1912.
Indian River State College presents a Neil Simon comedy,
“Fools,” in January, and “Anything Goes,” a Cole Porter
musical romance, in February at the McAlpin Fine Arts
Center in Fort Pierce.
The Treasure Coast also hosts a variety of speakers and
outdoor concerts in Stuart, Fort Pierce and Vero Beach, and
art shows, festivals and farmers’ markets in all three counties.
