This set of ropes used to operate the lights and other overhead equipment
in the 1923 Sunrise Theatre. When it was renovated between 1997 and
2006, the ropes were replaced with modern equipment.

downtown every weekend this year until April. Our volunteers
help make so much of this possible.”
Next up is branding. “We need to create an identity that
represents all of us. We’ll be meeting and working on that,”
she says.
“Fort Pierce is such a giving community; the people are so
real,” she says. “It has such a rich history. There are so many
benefits to having a vibrant downtown. I think the city has a
bright future ahead.”
Artist Anita Prentice created the mosaic tile logo at the entrance to the
Platts-Backus house now occupied by Main Street Fort Pierce.
