‘‘ I don’t let a $10
problem ruin my
billion-dollar

his success to “my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Rep. Larry Lee said Brown has been behind “anything of
substance” in improvements for northwest Fort Pierce, “He
has helped a lot of people go into business,” Lee said. “He
cares about people. He has touched people. He has that effect.”
Walking into the sanctuary, Brown sees a woman cleaning

the altar. “How are you, precious?” he says with a smile.
Asked later if the woman’s name was Precious, Brown said,
“All of them are precious and you don’t have to remember
names, just be kind to everybody.”
Brown is most proud of the difference Project ROCK has
made in the lives of troubled youth. “Suspension was a vacation,”
he said. “Girls got pregnant, houses were broken into,
cars stolen. With Project ROCK you are attending school.
There’s breakfast, lunch. We’ve taught kids to read. Atmosphere
is everything. Many parents wanted us to open a new
school. We gave them hope.” Brown estimates 500 students
per year have attended Project Rock the past 13 years.
“You only have so much time here on Earth,” Brown said.
“We should see ourselves doing more, having more and giving
more. Success breeds success. The mind is capable, but if
you don’t use it, you lose it. We have to live to learn and learn
to live. We should want to see a better city. If it’s to be, it’s
up to me.”
