Gonzalez is comptroller of the family business now, after
retiring from an accounting firm. The couple met — and
were married — at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables in the
1980s, while she was visiting her father in a Miami hospital.
They discovered Vero Beach when one of her sons enrolled
in classes at Flight Safety, Inc. After they moved to their
home on Mockingbird Lane three years ago, wildlife took
over the garden she had planted at the entrance to the
house. “We even had a family of bobcats come into the
garden after a rabbit that was after my garden.” The
vegetable and herb garden is now smaller and tucked away
in the courtyard, safe from hungry critters.
While business still controls much of their lives, the
couple saves time for exercise, bicycling and dancing —
Silvestry’s dance is the tango — but especially for their
grandson, Alex. She refers to herself as gaga grandmother.
“I love watching him play soccer, high fiving his friends.
And he's like me when I was young. He won't wear anything
14(
he doesn’t like.”
Someone better hide the pillowcases.
Above, right and opposite page the Infinite Dress, and its sidekick,
Infinite® Pantsuit, both manufactured in the United States, are delivered
— with instructional DVD — around the world from a small office in
Vero Beach.
