There are no lavish corporate offices. Triton’s money and time
go into submarine construction — a fact that appealed greatly
to Indian River County Commission Chairman Joseph Flescher
when Triton was looking for a business incentive grant
in early April to help pay for hiring more employees.
Currently operating with just 14 employees, Triton hit a
milestone when the Indian River County Commission unanimously
agreed to grant the company up to $94,000 over three
years to subsidize the hiring of 24 new employees — technicians,
support, sales and administrative personnel.
But before that, Triton won the stamp of approval from the
county’s Economic Development Committee, which operates
as an arm of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce.
“It is fascinating that a company like this is located in Indian
River County, and I’m thrilled that they’re adding 24 jobs
and $800,000 a year in annual paychecks to our economy,”
says Helene Caseltine, director of the EDC. “There are a good
many marine experts who formerly worked for Harbor Branch
Oceanographic Institute who are working for Triton now.” >>
